Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Preview

Battlefield 6's first beta weekend has come and gone, and it was an absolute blast. Battlefield 6 quickly launched itself to the top of my most anticipated games with it's fast paced and epic combat, extremely immersive gameplay and phenomenal weapons. I'll break down my favorite parts of Battlefield 6 below.

Game Modes

Battlefield 6 has as of now 4 main game modes: Breakpoint, Domination, Conquest and King of the Hill. Each of these are an absolute blast. King of the hill provides fast paced smaller skirmishes, Domination is a smaller conquest with a focus on squad teamwork and more skirmishes, Conquest is a genre staple which's large scale battles are an absolute blast to play, And my personal favorite: Breakpoint, is an action packed large scale defend and attack mode.
Battlefield 6's breakpoint mode on Liberation Peak can lead to some insane moments.
Breakpoint is my personal favorite because it's incredibly immersive and action packed. Breakpoint on Liberation Peak may honestly be one of my favorite multiplayer experiences ever. Fighting on the front lines as Assault and then watching your Specialist squadmate go down and then running after him to revive him before stopping an oncoming advance with 10 other soldiers is an amazing experience. Battlefield 6 is very clearly built on moments like this, and breakpoint is ripe with them. Breakpoint is also a mode in which revives and vehicles are extremely important to victory. A team can turn a losing battle into a huge victory with strategic use of heavy armor and air support. This mix makes it my personal favorite. King of the Hill and Domination are both smaller more fast paced matches, and these are perfect for players looking for smaller firefights.
Iberian Offensive on Domination
These smaller modes make you rely on squad based teamwork rather than large scale assaults, and can be pretty fun with a friend or 2. These smaller modes do seem like time fillers for people who don't want to play a 40 minute match though. Then there is Conquest. Conquest is obviously one of the main modes in BF6 and it is host to some of the biggest firefights I've ever seen in a video game. The battles to capture points require a ton of skill and teamwork to win. Battlefield 6 has some incredible game modes, but what about maps?

Maps

I am pleased to report that Battlefield 6 has some amazing maps, even if one isn't quite as good as the other 2.

Liberation Peak

The obvious winner in the maps is Liberation Peak. This map perfectly gives each character class a special role, weather it's a Sniper in the mountains, an Assault on the front lines, an Engineer back at HQ or a Support helping out the front line, each class has something to do.

Liberation peak is perfect for all of the large scale battle modes.

Siege of Cairo

Siege of Cairo on Breakthrough
Siege of Cairo is the second best map and has massive potential for destruction and is perfect for Conquest. The damaged buildings and streets are perfect for large scale combat and epic standoffs for control of each and every Control Point.

Iberian Offensive

Iberian Offensive on Domination
Iberian Offensive isn't as good as the other maps in large scale combat modes and doesn't have as much of a personality. It's more of an all around map without any super standout features. It's still very fun in the smaller modes though, just not as good as the others in Large scale combat.

Weapons and Features

The fan favorite feature of Battlefield 6 is obviously the new Drag Revive.
The drag revive is honestly one of the most immersive revives I've seen in a game. Chucking a smoke grenade or laying down suppressing fire to save a downed teammate is an incredible experience. The drag revive perfectly captures what it's going for. Heroically dragging a teammate to safety is a great feature.

The classes in BF6 Don't have locked in weapons but are still all great and well balanced. The Closed Weapon conquest mode allows for locked class weapons for those looking for old school BF multiplayer style gameplay, But I personally preferred the preset weapon. Speaking of weapons, all the BF6 Guns are great and unique in their own ways. Rather than modern Call of Duty: in which you literally never need to swap from the first gun (Xm4 in Bo6)
Each gun has its own style and every one has some use. Same as each class. Items also come into play frequently. I've only really used the Defibs and Grenade Launcher though.

And now for a key feature in Battlefield 6: the destruction. Battlefield 6's maps are perfect for the game's destruction system. the rocks and barricades in Liberation peak are frequently destroyed causing you to relocate, meaning cover has an extra layer of tactics to it, while Siege of Cairo and Iberian Offensive's buildings provide tons of explosions and destruction.

A standoff on Siege of Cairo

I literally had a building come down on my head when running to a Control Point on Siege of Cairo. Battlefield 6 nails the destruction.

Battlefield 6 Seems like a return to form for the series and I can't wait to play more. Already in it's buggy beta state it's some of the best multiplayer I've ever played.

Battlefield 6 launches October 10th 2025 with Open Beta Weekend 2 starting on the 14th and ending on the 17th.
