Oblivion Remastered is Amazing. Here's what they should do next.

Recently Bethesda released the amazing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. I day one Installed that on my PC and played it for hours. Immediately I went and searched my steam library for all the Bethesda games I never had the time to play. And that got me thinking... What could they do next? Here are five games that deserve the Oblivion Remastered treatment.

Side note: These are for Xbox first Party titles ONLY.

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

This is one that everyone is going to be asking for. Widely considered to be the best Bethesda RPG ever made, Morrowind is a great candidate for a remaster. Not just because people like it, But because its ridiculously complex. Anyone jumping into a Morrowind playthrough for the first time in 2025 better be ready for a lot of reading and complexity. Sometimes I wonder if this was even playable on Xbox. A Morrowind remaster would be a massive hit or miss. Whereas Oblivion was made for consoles, Morrowind has no combat physics, no "journal" that saves notes or details you find like in Dishonored or ESO. While the game is totally fun, in 2025 the systems are just too crazy for a straightforward or simpler experience. Now Morrowind is not supposed to be simple. At all. But here is the problem: New players will be overwhelmed. A Morrowind Remaster could add in new accessibility mechanics. Or add a new mode that simplifies the game. But for old fans of Morrowind there could be a "Classic" mode that keeps all of the overly complex features of the original. Sort of like a "Remaster" and a "Remake" mode. This could work and attract new players as well as keeping old fans.

Dishonored

Arkane Studios is one of my favorite Dev companies. Prey and Dishonored are 2 of my all-time favorites. But the original Dishonored could benefit from a remaster. The graphics do look good but could use an upgrade. The gameplay could be left unchanged. What Dishonored really needs is a visual overhaul to make it look better on today's consoles and PCs. Dishonored doesn't really have a ton of issues gameplay or bug wise like Morrowind and Oblivion, it simply needs an overhaul. Better frame rate, Graphics and perhaps RTX would all help this great game. (Especially in the really poorly lit sections.) It's simple. But needed.

Quake 3 Arena

This one might seem a little out of the blue. But the fan favorite Quake game is 100% in need of a remaster. Quake 1 and 2 recently got full remasters for modern systems and were both great. Quake 3 should be next. Some might say that Quake Champions is a good alternative, but Quake 3 Arena still holds its own against today's arena FPSs. However, it is only available on PC. And the graphics are less than great. Quake 3 arena would benefit from a multi-platform remaster with crossplay enabled. Quake 3 with a graphic overhaul and Xbox-Playstation and PC crossplay would be a hit for sure. Fans of old-school arena FPS titles would flock to Steam and other platforms to play in those old arenas again. Quake 3 Arena with a graphic overhaul and crossplay would be a surefire hit with Arena shooter fans. And potentially motivate Epic to bring back Unreal Tournament.

Halo: 3

Another title out of the blue would be Halo 3. Halo 3 may be the fan favorite of the franchise but it's actually my least favorite of the first 3 Halos. Why? Because the first 2 were remastered. Halo 3 does not look good to new players. Because of its dated graphics. While it's not terrible, it definitely needs an overhaul. After playing through both remasters and coming back to Halo 3 It just looked worse. While the gunplay needs no refinements whatsoever, it simply needs to be just like the previous remasters. Halo 3 has a ton of potential and is a game players would totally revisit.

Fallout: New Vegas

My personal selection would be Obsidian's masterpiece: Fallout: New Vegas. It's not only one of the best shooters/ RPGs I've played but it's also one of my favorite games in general. A major complaint about the game was that the gunplay didn't feel good. A remaster could change that. A New Vegas remaster has the chance to fix the bugs and problems of the original. Add in a graphic overhaul and you have a certified masterpiece. Fallout: New Vegas is already a masterpiece on its own, but a remaster could take this to another level. Fallout New Vegas has no shortage of bugs and glitches, and its guns are less than perfect, but its overall gameplay is second to none and 100% needs an update. With Fallout season 2 on the way, now is the perfect time for a New Vegas comeback.

That concludes my list!
