Vampire Survivors: Secret Character Unlocking.

 Ah... Vampire Survivors. It's pretty big right now. And it has a lot of secrets to uncover. In this post I will cover the best and easiest way to unlock these characters. (I still don't have all of them so I will update this later.) NOTE: All characters require ether the Yellow Sign relic or the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbaine relic unless noted.

• UPDATE: I realized almost every level has a secret character in it. here is every level's secret character. (7/12/2024) TBD= To be discovered. Any level left out does NOT have a secret character. Examples: Whiteout, Polus Replica, Laborratory and Bat Country.
• Mad Forest: Boon Marrabio

• Red Death and Random can be discovered in almost any level. (Random requires a Coffin to be opened before in the level.)
• Exdash and Smith IV are unlockable through the Scrolls. (Exdash can spawn from clovers, but this is excruciatingly rare.)
• Toastie is unlockable on any level with a non-red or yellow Reaper. (Cappella Magna is a good stage.)  

1: The Mask of the Red Death

Most likely the most famous secret character, Red is unlocked after killing the final enemy in each stage: The Reaper. The Reaper appears at each levels time limit. To eliminate him there are a couple different methods. (I used the spell) To kill the reaper the only method I know well is to use fellow Reaper character: MissingN[] (More on him later) who can spawn immortal. NOTE: There is also a method using Toastie at level 200. More on that: HERE. The MissingN[] method goes like this: the Reaper spawns with extra hp depending on your level. so, it is advised to NOT get xp gems. Basically, go AFK for 30 minutes or play and avoid gems so the Reaper will have less hp. When he shows up you can grab as many gems as you wish and snag weapons from level ups. You also want to snag chests after you max out items to get evos. this should kill the Reaper.  I will tell you how he handles in an upcoming post. (Same with some others) you do NOT need the scrolls or sign, but some methods are ether only possible or insanely easier with them.

2: MissingN[]

This guy is weird. All of his stats are completely randomized. For example, his stats could be HP: -1(Immortal) Might: 293% Curse: 193% Move Speed: -300% Area: 1% and cooldown + 200%. There are 2 methods to unlock him. the first is to fall off the edge of the world in green acers. NOT MAD FOREST.  to do this you must head southwest for a little while and strange winged enemies should appear. kill 128 of them. This character is a direct reference to the glitch Pokémon Missingno from the gen 1 Pokémon titles.  I still have not played a run as him as of this writing due to his CRAZY high price. (FYI, I used the spell.) UPDATE: (21/2024) Finally got him. Yeah... he's a weirdo. I attempted to kill the reaper via stat rerolls and got inverted movement once and area so bad my whip was a single pixel, and my scythe was invisible! But he can be good. I got -100% cooldown and a really good area once!

3: Big Trouser

Also known as the merchant, Trouser's unlock method requires you to leave moonglow with all 16 pickups maxed out. You can do this via stage clear or quitting the level. You do NOT need the scrolls or sign to get him. The best way to do this is to start with a secret character who starts with a weapon evo and can move fast. I used the Reaper. You will want to set your max weapons to 1 (This makes sure that the only items you get in the level up menu are the ones you picked up.) and use the Reaper as he is insanely fast and deals plenty of damage. chests are also useful as they can help you level up the items quicker. Trouser starts with Candybox and +1% greed each level. Candybox allows you to select any weapon that you have unlocked. (No evos though.) This works well if you want to level up a specific item. Trouser is also a gold farmer.

4: Gains Boros

Boros is unlocked by finding flowers in Bone Zone. They are really easy to find if you have the Yellow Sign, but he is still unlockable without it. To find him you need to go to where the Silver Ring item is. (Yellow sign makes it appear) And then head up. after a little while you should see a green circle with flowers in it. head to the center of this and let them heal you. after a couple seconds the character unlock chime plays and he should be in the menu. He starts with a +2 growth bonus that increases every level. (This makes him a good choice for unlocking Trousers and other characters that require weapon level-ups) 

5: Toastie

One of the weirder characters in the game Toastie begins with a literal 1 max health. Toastie, however at level 100 he gains 9998 HP and at level 200 he gains 65520 Armor. He is a very uneven character, and his starting weapon is NOT great. His unlock process is odd: Step 1: unlock his brother Exdash. (More about this ↓) Step 2: Kill a non-red Reaper. This means the Pink Trickster, The Green Stalker or the Blue Drowner. Stalker appears in Dairy Plant and Drowner shows up in Gallo Tower. (Trickster spawns in an Inverse area and Boss Rash.) The Yellow Maddener from Cappella Magna does NOT count. Upon killing your target Toastie should show up screaming "PANINI!" from the bottom right corner of the screen. As soon as you see him press Down arrow plus Enter for the PC players. for WASD players S does not work it must be the Down arrow. I have absolutely NO idea how to do this with console (My platform of choice) so instead for players on Xbox and the like you can cast the spell: tramezzini using the scrolls. still Exdash must be unlocked for this to work. You have to cast a spell to unlock Exdash in order to get access to Toastie at all.

6: Exdash Exiviiq

Most likely the easiest secret character to unlock, Exdash is the first of the Ghost brothers. Unlocking him is super easy. just use the Scrolls to cast x-x1viiq and you have him. The scrolls literally tell you exactly how to get him. He is much like Toastie in terms of combat except his max HP can go into the 90 to 100 range with power ups. the rest of his stats except luck have a -10% disadvantage without powerups. He spawns with a 100% luck bonus and a sucky starter weapon as Ebony Wings is not the place to be when you're as slow as he is.

7: Smith IV

Smith is the 3rd of the Ghost brothers and starts with the bird union Vandalier. His unlock method is odd too. It's some awkward sequence of typing "spam" into the menu. here's how it works: NOTE: this only works on PC and if you have both Exdash and Toastie. Console players will have to cast the spell: maybeiamastallion. Step 1: type spam into the main menu. this will start a hidden 30 second timer. next type spam into the character select. then do the same for stage select. then start a run and enter humbug. when you leave, he should be available. Smith is also an awkward character because of his max 7 hp and -50% move speed.

8: Random

Random. The name says it all. In fact, his name will change every time you enter the menu. He starts with a random weapon that you have unlocked and a random name that gives you random stat boosts. He is a strange character. His unlock process is simple. in each level find the coffins. (This is not required but it makes it easier.)

Next use the map to find any coffin again. head to the coffin and open it again. the enemies that guarded it originally will be back. upon opening it a question mark should leap out of it and the coffin unlock noise should play. he should appear in the character select. Sign and Scrolls are NOT needed.

9: Boon Marrabbio

Another odd character, Boon is the Mad Forest character. He starts with Thousand Edge except it is insanely slow. it makes a sort of knife trail, and all other weapons are affected by his -110% projectile speed. He also starts with -80% greed and 10% Curse as well. Looking for gold? do NOT use this guy. His unlock method is semi-simple Step 1: go to Mad Forest. I recommend using Impostor Rina. (DLC) her Rampage boosts help speed this up. The Reaper may also work well. Step 2: grab Curse (Skull) and Pummarola (Red Heart.) After this you should see a trail of pies. follow these and you should see a black Wizard. Kill him. after you kill him, Boon should be unlocked.

10: Minnah Mannarah

Once again, ANOTHER odd character. Every minute Minnah's: Might, Projectile speed, Area, Duration, and Cooldown change. The unlock method for Minnah is to "Steal cheese from the Dairy Plant." To do this you must enable Arcanas and have the Arcana: Mad Groove. or check your map for a floor chicken and go towards it. This "Chicken" may be the Cursed Cheese. Mad Groove brings it right to you. (If you don't have this arcana, you can cast laforza to get it.) upon picking it up seven werewolf bosses will spawn and attack you. kill them and you should have Minnah.

11: Gyorunton

Gyorunton is the Boss Rash character. to unlock him you must survive it with only one weapon. there are 2 ways to make this possible by being AFK. 1: MissingN[]. If MissingN[] has negative HP in the menu then he is immortal, and you can just leave him there until the 15:00 time limit. next there is the DLC character Ghost Lino. (My method.) You can leave him there and it works easily. If you don't have these characters, I would recommend activating Hurry Mode and setting your max weapons to 1 in the menu. I have yet to play as Gyo, but he apparently gains +1% Curse every level and can find evos in any treasure chest. Plus 2 revives.

UPDATE! I found 2 more secret characters! 7/12/2024. I also am going to play this game to get another character soon.

12: Leda

It took me 3 tries to find Leda. You have to investigate the bottom of Gallo Tower to find her. So, Leda begins with an awkward -20% Move speed (Which is VERY annoying.) and +5 Armor, +100% Might -80% Greed, +10 Area and -10% Cooldown. Her starting weapon is the Holy Wand evo. Leda is more of a tank character having essentially 2X might. I have not used her too much so I will update another post with her rank later. So, to unlock her I recommend using a character with good Move speed and Might. I used the Red Death. My first attempt I used Pugnala (Mad Forest coffin), But I died before I saw Leda. So, I tried it with Death, and I died due to using Arcana O Game Killer. I tried it normally and it worked! So, here's what you need to know. At the start of your run head straight down. The faster you go down the less powerful the enemies will be. As you go down you will start to notice that the background is getting darker except for a circle of light around your character. When you are 90% of the way down the music will cut out. Keep going down until the red runes in the background change to I AM ALIVE HERE. After this stay put and try to level up your weapons. I recommend having at least 2 evos when fighting Leda. My recommended loadout is Death Spiral (To clear out any enemies) Vespers (To protect you while attacking Leda) and Thousand Edge (To attack Leda directly.) After a few minutes of waiting, you should see Leda appear. Attack her. Upon killing Leda, the darkness should vanish and the unlock chime will play. Finish or leave the run and Leda will be playable.

13: Peppino

The Il Molise secret character is another weirdo. Peppino starts with -100% Move Speed (Which means he can't move without Power ups or wings.) 100% Magnet, +2 Armor and a slowly increasing -60% Area. Peppino's area increases by 20% every few levels or so. To unlock him you must "Be a good boy in Il Molise" To do this you must unlock the merchant or O'sole Meeo. You can play as Meeo or just buy Celestial Dusting from the Merchant. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT DAMAGING THE PLANTS. This was a misconception that took me like 8 runs to realize it didn't matter! I think you may actually have to damage the plants to heal them. So, to unlock Peppino spawn into Il Molise as Meeo. (You can use anyone else too, but Meeo is the better choice due to him being Immortal in this level.) In order to unlock Peppino you must heal 100,000 hp to the plants in Il Molise. Upon breaking the 100,000 mark you will hear the unlock chime. After ending the run Peppino is playable.

UPDATE: (7/13/2024) New character from Cappella Magna!

14: Cosmo Pavone

Cosmo is the Cappella Magna character. He begins with the Peachone and Ebony Wings. But the interesting thing is that like Megalo Impostor Rina his weapon is hidden. So, you can select 6 weapons and still have FOUR BIRDS firing (Only with Arcana I Gemini is this possible. Without it you only have 2 birds.) There are 2 ways to unlock him. (Other than a spell.) Method 1: wait until the Ender spawns (He only spawns at the 30-minute mark if this is the first time you play Cappella Magna after getting the Yellow Sign.) And head towards where the Crown and Tirajisu were or are. upon getting there head up. Cosmo should be flapping his wings there and easily grabbable. Method 2: (Mine) To unlock him with this method you have to "With a pure heart and 2 good friends (Peachone and Ebony Wings), Visit the fiery balcony in Cappella Magna. Step 1: Spawn into Magna as a character who can easily access both birds and has NO Golden Eggs. This is part of the "Pure Heart" requirement. (TURNING THEM OF DOES NOT COUNT.) Like Trouser who can pick either as his starting weapon. But when I tried it as Trouser, I ran out of room in my weapons. I recommend having a Banish, Skip, Pass or Reroll on hand in case you run out of room. But before doing any of this you must find Zi'Assunta's coffin in this level. Another good character for unlocking Cosmo is DLC character Engineer Gino. He starts with +20 Reroll which is EXTREMLY helpful. Step 2: Get both birds and use the map to find the Nduja Fritta Tanto. above Crown and Tirajisu. Upon doing this pick the Tanto up and the blocker to the balcony should disappear. Touch Cosmo and a Rosary-like screen clear will take place. End the run and Pavone is purchasable. Pavone begins with -80 Max hp, 1 revival (Increases by 1 every 100 levels.) +1 recovery (Which increases by 1 each level) +30% Move Speed and +20% Luck which goes up by 1% every level. There is no cap on these bonuses. I have yet to use Cosmo in a complete run.

UPDATE: (7/16/2024) Got another character!

15: Gyoruntin

Gyoruntin is the newest secret character and one of the easiest. The hard thing is getting to his level. To unlock him you first must unlock Carlo Cart. To do this you have to unlock Laborratory. To unlock Laborratory (Yes, I spelled it like that on purpose) You have to obtain 33 Rosaries. Here's how I did it: Step 1: Unlock Cappella Magna. Step 2: Find the 3 Rosaries that automatically spawn at the start of the game. (Or equip Arcana Mad Groove.) Step 3: Grab all 3 and leave the run. Step 5: Repeat. Continue to grind Rosaries until you unlock the level. Now you have Laborratory. Next you need to unlock Carlo Cart. To do this you must deal 25120 damage with the Laborratory train. To do this start a run with a fast character. I used Red Death. Head down after starting a run. You will find a gold lever. Run into it to activate the train. FYI the train will NOT hurt you. Essentially stay in the tunnel the whole time and constantly hit the levers. With the train dealing 400-500 damage you only need to hit around 50 enemies. This is also a good level to stock up on Golden Eggs dropped by the Atlanteans due to the fact that the train will shred them. Upon reaching the damage mark for unlocking Carlo Cart play the level. Use a character with a strong starting weapon like Gains, Death and Leda. Attempt to move < Left and after a while of doing this a coffin should spawn guarded by Gyoruntons. Take them out and bust Gyoruntin out of the coffin! Afterwards you will have to buy Gyoruntin for a STEEP price. (It was 27000 for me. May be more or less for you,) Gyoruntin begins with the NO FUTURE evo and +35 Max HP, +80% Move Speed +3 armor and best of all: He ignores walls! This makes him a SUPER valuable asset! I found the coffin sub area for Gallo and ran off the map in Lab! But as a downside he gains +1% Curse each level. I cleared Lab as him and can say he is worth the hassle. Great character!

16: Rose De Infernas

Rose is the Astral Stair secret character. You unlock her by going through the "46th Door." But what does this mean? Simple. In Astral Stair there are "Warp Doors" that take you from one area to the next. Go through these 46 times and you will end up in a mysterious space with a door and a coffin. Open the coffin. And you're done. Easy. Getting through 46 doors took me only 2 runs. I reccomend a fast character who can hit hard. The Astral Stair enemies are no pushovers. I recommend Megalo Imposter Rina from a DLC, Red Death or Gyoruntin. I used Rina and Gyo. Rose is not a very hard character to explain. But Astral Stair can only be unlocked by the spell "recyclethelibrary" or reaching level 80 in the Inverse Inlaid library. Inverse mode can only be unlocked by getting all standard relics and speaking to the Directer.

17: Scorej-Oni

Scorej-Oni is the Tiny Bridge secret character. Tiny Bridge is unlocked like Astral Stair. Reach level 80 in Gallo Tower.  He is a boss located at the far right of the bridge. All you have to do is kill him to unlock him. I recommend using a character like Gyoruntin because enemies cannot leave the bridge while you can. By doing this you can focus on taking down Oni. Also, Gyo's weapon bounces all over the bridge and smokes everyone. Another simple character.

 

• UPDATE: (7/12/2024) Here is a table with all the Morbaine Spells for these characters. If I used that spell, it has a blue ! at the end of it. (THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE SPELL!) Bust out your notepad because these are LONG. Also, a warning: these are all lowercase. DO NOT MISTAKE A I FOR A LOWERCASE L. They will appear as i and l. I made this mistake and angrily yelled at my screen after failing the spell multiple times.
