The Best of Xbox Direct.

Xbox Direct happened last month in June. I was staring at the screen as a ton of phenomenal looking FPS games were announced. (I am a HUGE FPS nut.) So here are my picks for the best of Xbox Direct June 9th, 2024. (In no particular order.) WARNING: MOST OF THESE GAMES ARE RP AND WILL MOST LIKELY BE M RATED!

First off: DOOM: THE DARK AGES

Doom was one of the first FPS games I ever played. Of course, it was the sucky SNES version but whatever. This game looks absolutely SICK. So, the rumors were that Doom was getting a new entry that takes place in medieval times. They were 100% true. This game looks like it is going to be an extremely fun Boomer Shooter. So, the DOOM games were always big Sci-Fi gorefests. Like every game was just no story all violence. Which I don't really like because there was a lot missing in the first game due to it all just being you shooting stuff. (I never played 2016 or ETERNAL) The trailer is really good and shows a lot of opportunity story-wise. But the coolest thing in the trailer is the gameplay. The new Medieval Weapons + Modern Guns combo looks like it could make Doom the Dark Ages an interesting title. I like when developers combine multiple weapon styles like Half-Life and Halo. (Fallout too but I have not played that one. Okay. yell at me. I AM GOING TO PLAY IT.) I am a fan of ID's work in the FPS field and play a lot of Quake. I am going to play this as soon as it comes out.

Here's the trailer! (WARNING: It is really violent.)

Next: Call Of Duty Black Ops 6

I love spy stories. In fact, I literally would use the "you versus the corrupt system story" if I was making this game. I was never a big Call of Duty guy until I played the OG one a while back. Since then, I have wanted to play all of them. But I saw this when it opened the Direct and knew I had to play it as soon as it was released. Honestly the best thing about it is ether the campaign or the new omnimovement system. So, one of the things they talked about in the direct was how they were making the movement system more lifelike. It looks like they achieved this. I am not a huge multiplayer guy. I hate Fortnite and could care less about Halo: Infinite. The only real online FPS I play is Quake Live. But for some reason the idea of multiplayer in this game just looks great. But still the best thing about this game is the storyline. And it's coming this October!
Here's the trailer!

And Lastly: The Perfect Dark Reboot

This is another one that looks good. I never played the N64 Perfect Dark. I never owned a copy of the game myself, but I might play it on my switch with the new update to NS Online. Once again: I like spy stories. this is no exception. Xbox showed off more franchise reboots alongside this like Fable. (Never played the OG one.) But Dark just hit it for me. I had heard that Dark was a successor to Goldeneye a long time ago but never got to give it a shot myself. This game looks like it's going to be a great combo of storytelling and gameplay with a good story base and a bit of parkour and FPS gameplay. I cannot wait to play this!
Trailer!

And here are some of my other favorites from the Direct.

WARNING: ALL TRAILERS ARE FROM M RATED TITLES!

Fallout 76: Skyline Valley

I went into the direct expecting something from Fallout due to it making moves recently with the new TV show and a Fortnite crossover (Not to mention the CoD MWIII crossover!) And I was semi-right. I was sort of expecting some Fallout 5 teaser or something like that, but an expansion is fine.

Assassins Creed: Shadows

I never played Assassins Creed. This might be the game to get me into it. The gameplay combo from the Shinobi character who appears to be a character for those who prefer to sneak around and dispose of targets quickly and quietly and a Samuri character who looks made for players who just want to shred everyone. The gameplay combo could make or break Shadows. I say it's going to work.

And there you have it. My favorite trailers from Xbox Direct June 9th, 2024! There were 2 other titles that didn't quite make the list for me: Gears of War: E-DAY and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.  Most of these are slated for 2025 release dates. Which means all we can do is wait. I cannot wait to play these titles and it seems that many of them are coming to PS5 and Steam. So even if you don't have an Xbox, you can enjoy these games when they release! Thanks for reading!
